Blue Tick

Guidelines and procedure on how to apply a blue tick or blue badge WhatsApp account.

While most businesses would like to apply for the blue tick, only a few companies will have an official business account due to its stricter criteria. WhatsApp's decision is based on various factors, such as whether the brand is notable and reputable, media exposure, etc.

Requirements

  1. Verified Business Manager with a display name supported by the client’s external branding. (Business Manager cannot belong to another company or agency)

  2. The quality rating of the number must be ‘high’ when the application is made.

  3. The Brand must not violate WhatsApp's policies, especially its Commerce Policy.

  4. Facebook Business Manager must be verified status.

  5. It must be a notable and reputed brand - decided by WhatsApp.

With regards to 'notable and reputed brand' - some guidelines are:

If you do not meet some of these requirements, you can still apply, but the chances for approval might not be high.

  1. WhatsApp does not consider paid advertisement for media exposure.

  2. There might be other internal criteria or standards that WhatsApp does not share publicly.

  3. Blue tick is subject to WhatsApp approval, and no BSP has any influence over the approval process.

Blue Tick Application

Steps: 1. Go to Facebook Business Manager > Accounts > WhatsApp Accounts > WhatsApp Manager

2. To get to the Profile section, click on the Settings.

If your account has more than one WABA number, please select the one you want to apply for the Blue tick and click on Settings.

3. Click the Profile and Submit Request buttons to fill out the required information.

You need to submit 5 web URLs to show that the business is notable. Choosing them carefully is important since you can only submit a new request after 30 days if it is rejected.

The WhatsApp API Support Team conducts the review process, which can take 7-10 business days. If your application is successful, the account will be upgraded automatically, so no further action is required.

Denied Requests

If your OBA request has been denied, it means the Meta team has carefully reviewed your application. Unfortunately, your account is not eligible for the blue tick status. The decision is final and cannot be appealed at this time.

You must wait 30 days before submitting another OBA request. During this time, the business can continue to grow its presence by increasing organic likes on the Facebook page, improving website quality, and building its presence in news articles and media.

Denied requests do not limit or affect the WhatsApp account's ability to continue working as usual. You can also edit the business profile, such as the description, profile pic, website, etc., at any time.
